Best Korean Toner for all Skin Types

A Korean toner is a skin care product that is used after cleansing. It helps prepare skin for the rest of your skin care routine by balancing pH levels, treating blemishes and controlling oil production. The best Korean toner is formulated to give your skin a boost when it needs it most!

In the skincare world, toners are one of those oft-overlooked products that people don’t really give much thought to. But they’re a vital part of your regimen for getting that glowy, clear, and healthy skin you want.

Table of Contents

Korean toners are essential to the Korean skincare routine. Toner is meant to cleanse the skin of any impurities and excess oil. Toners also prep the skin for other products and lock in moisture.

They’re used to prep the skin for further treatments and to help balance the skin’s pH levels. There are different types of toners for different skin types and concerns, but they all serve a similar purpose: to get rid of excess dirt, grime, and makeup and prepare your face for the rest of your skincare routine.

    Korean vs Western Toners

Korean toners are very different from American toners, which are typically astringents.

I think that the Western toners are not meant to truly moisturize the skin, but rather to cleanse the skin of makeup and any other impurities you may have missed in your cleanser. They are often glycerin based, which means they are hydrating and plumping. They are not meant to tighten or dry out the skin, rather to provide something that American toners do not.

Korean toners have a thicker consistency, and they’re more of a lotion than the thinner liquids that we call “toners” in the U.S. They moisturize, treat, and refine your skin — but they don’t necessarily tighten and tone the way American toners do.

Choose the Best Korean Toner for Your Skin Type

There are four skin types in Korean beauty terms: dry, oily, sensitive, and combination skin. To keep the balance of your face. Each skin type needs a different kind of toner, so you should choose a Korean toner that fits your skin type.

Korean toner has been a topic of debate since the international craze for Korean beauty products began. In most cases, it is falsely assumed that Korean toners are applicable to all skin types and all skin tones. However, this is not firmly true. If you are using the wrong toner for your skin type, you could be doing more harm than good.

Using a Korean Toner for Dry Skin

Yes, we’ve all heard of toners and how they are supposed to be a necessity in our skincare regimen. However, if you have dry skin, you want a toner with hyaluronic acid. Here’s why: Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant that helps keep skin hydrated. It essentially acts as a sponge for moisture. In fact, it can hold 1,000 times its weight in water!

Korean toners with hyaluronic acid moisturize the skin and can improve the skin’s texture and smoothness. Hyaluronic acid, an organic substance that occurs naturally in all living organisms, is a popular ingredient in anti-aging products.

The lack of this substance can cause wrinkles, dry skin, and loss of elasticity. It can also cause the signs of aging. In order to get beautiful and elastic skin, people use hyaluronic acid in many different ways. It’s also a popular ingredient in many skincare products because of its potential to increase the skin’s ability to retain moisture and keep it looking plump and firm.

Using a Toner for Oily Skin

If you have oily skin, then you know how hard it can be to find the best moisturizer. Many products designed for oily skin will make your face feel heavy and greasy.

You’ll want a moisturizer that isn’t too heavy, as your oily skin is prone to clogging pores and can look more textured if the product itself is thick. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the best ingredients to look for in a moisturizer for oily skin because it can hold large amounts of water molecules, which creates a smooth texture that helps your skin look less shiny.

With the right moisturizer, your oily skin will stay hydrated and balanced all day.

Best Korean Toner for Sensitive Skin

Sensitive is a unique skin type in that it’s vulnerable to external factors, it’s usually dehydrated, and it can be prone to acne breakouts. When it comes to skin care, sensitive skin needs something that will soothe skin without stripping it of its natural oils. When shopping Korean skin care products, it’s important to look for natural ingredients that your skin can better absorb. The best toner is one that doesn’t contain irritants or unnecessary fillers such as synthetic fragrances, alcohol, and mineral oil.

How to Use a Toner in Your Routine

A toner is a facial product that is used after cleansing and before applying moisturizer or lotion. They polish the surface of your face, leaving it feeling soft, fresh, and ready to absorb your moisturizer or serum.

Toners help remove any traces of cleanser and makeup, soothe the skin and prepare it for further skincare products so it’s only best to use it right after your cleansing routine and just before applying serums and moisturizers. Most Korean toners have an almost gel-like consistency. Simply add a small amount in a cotton ball or on your fingers and spread evenly in your face. Once done, gently tap your face with your fingers. Tapping your face with a cotton pad or your fingers after applying a toner will help your skin absorb the product better.

New to Cleansers? Choosing the Best Cleansing Oil Korean Skincare Brand

Is it just me, or does that sound a little strange? Oils to cleanse your face? How can that be? 🤔 I’m here to tell you that it really works, and you really don’t have to worry about a thing.

But there are a lot of different cleansing oils on the market that use different types of ingredients. If you’ve never used them before, it can get pretty overwhelming trying to figure out which one is best for your skin type and needs!

    Oil Cleansing is a Must

If you’re new to Korean skincare and have never tried a cleansing oil, I highly recommend you try one out. Cleansing oils are a staple in every K-beauty skincare routine and they’re incredibly effective at removing makeup, dirt, and grime.

They also have the AMAZING added benefit of being able to nourish your skin with ingredients like Vitamin E, Shea Butter, and Argan Oil!

Surprisingly, in the world of Korean beauty, there are only TWO cleansing oils that stand out above the rest for us:

    The #1 Oil Cleanser

Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity
    (5 / 5 Stars | 3,787 Reviews)

I prefer the Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity for oil cleansing. It has a balm-like texture that melts away any makeup and grime from the day. It also has a sweet scent that helps to relax.

Banila Co. Clean It Zero Purity is a makeup remover that doesn’t require water. It’s enriched with natural oils and Vitamin E so it deeply removes your makeup, even stubborn waterproof mascaras and eyeliners. It’s formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates so it’s very gentle on skin. This makeup remover has exceptional oil control properties so it won’t leave any oily residue behind.

    Light and Hydrating

    Best Cleansing Oil Korean

Innisfree Green Tea Pure Cleansing Oil
    (4.5 / 5 Stars | 113 Reviews)

This product is made from green tea extracts, and it smells like green tea (for us it smells fresh!), so if you don’t like green tea you may not be fond of the scent.

    See Product →

Innisfree Green Tea Pure Cleansing Oil is a great natural cleanser with organic and herbal ingredients, green tea extract, dandelion extract and orchid extract. It’s more like cleansing water than a true oil. It has a very runny consistency and will not leave an oily residue.

It’s All About The Base Oil! (And Other Ingredients)

Cleansing oils are basically just like they sound — a mixture of oil and water. The oil component of cleansing oils is usually palm oil, olive or argan oil.

    Most Common Base Oils:

    • Argan Cleansing Oil is definitely one of the best cleansing oils for your skin. It’s rich in antioxidants and has vitamin E, which helps to keep your skin supple and soft. Some Argan-based oils also got jojoba oil to balance your skin’s natural sebum production so that you don’t get oil, while others contain sunflower seed oils to keep your complexion radiant!
    • Olive oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, antimicrobial properties and essential fatty acids. This cleansing oil is great for all skin types. It helps to remove dirt and makeup and at the same time softens and nourishes dry skin.
    • Perhaps the cheapest and most accessible, Palm Oil versatile, acts as an anti-oxidant, and even has natural SPF properties!

Palm oil is widely used in the cosmetic industry because it is a cheap alternative to more expensive ingredients such as coconut oil. Because it has a high melting point, it is an ideal ingredient for soaps and body butters. This oil is safe for all skintype, so if you’re having a hard time finding a moisturizer that works for you, try an organic palm oil-based cleanser.

    Why Cleansing Oils?

The Korean cleansing oil is an essential part of the double cleansing method. It dissolves makeup and dirt that regular cleansers cannot remove. In order to do this, a cleansing oil must act as an emulsifier by breaking up the fat molecules in dirt and makeup so that it is easier to remove with water. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect, making it a great choice for people with acne.

    Korean Cleansers Vs. Makeup Removers

Which is better: A Korean cleanser or makeup remover? The answer is simple: it depends. It all depends on your skin type, your budget, and how much time you have in the evening before bed.

With so many options out there, it’s hard to know where to start. I’ve been a curious customer like you, and I can help you work through the confusion. The first thing to decide is whether you want a cleanser or a makeup remover.

Korean makeup removers are some of the most popular products in the K-beauty trend, mostly for their affordability. Cleansers and makeup removers are often both used interchangeably, so it can be hard to tell the difference between them. While cleansers are good for removing dirt and oil that clogs pores, makeup removers are better for getting rid of cosmetics such as eyeliners, mascara, and foundation that have been worn during the day.

    Benefits of Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oils are considered to be among the best makeup removers available as they are able to remove even waterproof makeup, such as mascara. This is mainly due to their high oil content, which differentiates them from other types of facial cleansers.

It dissolves all the dirt and makeup that has accumulated on your face throughout the day. First, the oil softens your skin and dissolves all of the makeup on your face. Then, you just wash it off with water. There is no need to use soap or a washcloth because the oil itself cleanses your face!

    Ideal for Sensitive Skin Types

If you have sensitive skin that breaks out easily, then the Korean cleansing oil will be your best friend. While many cleansing products contain alcohol and are irritating to the skin, Korean cleansing oils are non-comedogenic and gentle on the skin. This makes them ideal for sensitive skin types.

    Smoothens and Moisturizes the Skin

Korean cleansing oil is unlike any other skincare product out on the market. It is neither a traditional cleanser nor a moisturizer, but a hybrid of the two that is perfect for all skin types and leaves your face feeling hydrated and rejuvenated. Depending on the base oil and the ingredients that your bottle contains, oil cleansers range from moisturizers to anti-wrinkle solutions.

Korean Cleansing Oil Controls Oily Skin

Oily skin? Then you know how difficult it can be to keep shine at bay. Even with your most expensive creams and toners, you often do not get long-lasting results. The culprit? Sebum, the natural oil that your skin produces to regulate itself.

If you have oily skin, then you know that it can be hard to find the right facial cleanser. Korean cleansing oil is great for oily skin, and definitely worth a try. This type of facial cleanser helps remove excess oil without stripping your face of moisture, making it easy to maintain a healthy balance. Korean cleansing oils lift excess sebum from your skin without disturbing the natural lipid barrier, which keeps your skin from feeling dry and flaky after use.

Time to add it to your routine

Oil cleansing is the first step in the 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine followed by water cleansing. Now that you know the types of oils and the best ones we can recommend, it’s time you start your routine with the best oil cleanser for your skin type!

Should I do oils first before water cleansing?

    Mely Pedrozo

@Mely Pedrozo yes, it’s best to start with oil cleansing first on a dry skin. This will help lift up dirt and makeup before you do any water cleansing with your favorite facial wash or cleanser. We recommend Good Morning Low PH Morning Gel Cleanser for this!

How to Choose the Best Korean Eye Cream

After a long night of drinking, you wake up with puffy eyes and dark circles. You feel like no one wants to look at you. It’s time to fight back against those pesky under-eye bags, and get your peepers in prime condition!

The skin around your eyes is one of your first signs of aging. Thankfully, there are a number of ways to tackle the issue and make sure you’re not left with puffy, dry or baggy eyes.

    Table of Contents

Eye Cream Type #1 – Anti-wrinkle eye cream

Anti-wrinkle Korean eye cream works in two different ways. One way is to decrease the volume of your wrinkles by increasing collagen production. The second way is to increase the elasticity of the skin around your eyes, which will reduce the appearance of fine lines and crow’s feet. It’s important to be aware that these creams won’t get rid of your wrinkles overnight. But they will definitely start to reduce them after a few weeks.

What to look for in an anti-wrinkle cream:

Korean anti-wrinkle eye creams will typically contain ingredients such as niacinamide or vitamin C, which help reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes.

Eye Cream Type #2 -Whitening eye cream

With the right eye cream, your eyes will look brighter and more youthful than ever before. Let’s face it – the skin around your eyes is delicate and requires special attention. The skin is thinner than the rest of your face so it is more prone to fine lines, dark circles and wrinkles.

Whitening eye creams are designed to help you get rid of the dark circles, uneven skin tone and puffy bags that accompany aging. They use natural ingredients, such as green tea and mulberry extract, to restore the delicate skin around your eyes and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

What to look for in a whitening eye cream:

The best ingredients for lightening the skin under your eyes include Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), and Retinol.

Eye Cream Type #3 -Hydrating eye cream

Hydrating eye creams can be used along with a good moisturizer to add hydration to the skin around the eyes. As research reported in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, eye creams and moisturizers containing antioxidants are especially helpful in slowing down the aging process of skin around the eyes.

What to look for in a hydrating eye cream:

Some ingredients in Korean eye cream moisturizing products include ginseng, licorice, tea tree oil, beeswax, evening primrose oil and milk protein. The main function of the Korean eye cream moisturizing products is to hydrate your skin, remove dark circles and reduce puffiness of eyes.

What are the best ingredients in a Korean eye cream?

The best Korean eye cream products are known for their use of natural ingredients and active ingredients that have proven anti-aging effects. Many times, these ingredients are more potent than the ones found in Western eye creams. In order to determine if an eye cream is high quality, you need to know what ingredients to look for.

Here are the top five ingredients in a Korean eye cream that you should look for when picking out a new eye cream.

      • EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) – Helps in tissue regeneration.
      • Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) – Prevents dark circles and also promotes circulation.
      • Adenosine – Fights wrinkles and fine lines.
      • Snail Mucin – Contains antioxidants, proteins, elastin, glycolic acid, and glycoproteins that are said to smooth out wrinkles and hydrate skin.

How to Use Your New Korean Eye Cream

To apply eye cream, hold the container between your fingers and gently dab the cream around the eye area. Apply the cream in small circular motions, using your fingertips to gently tap it into the skin.

      Outward Direction

You should apply eye cream around the orbital bone, starting from the inner corner of the eye to where the eyelid meets the cheek. Be sure to press gently so that it soaks into your skin well.

We recommend that you apply eye cream regularly. In fact, eye cream is included in the 10-Step Korean skin care routine, since the signs of aging are first seen around the eye area. Many people believe that using eye cream in the morning is the best way to look after their eyes. However, it is better to use eye creams in the evening to get the best results. This will give the eye cream all night to work its magic. The skin around your eyes is very thin, so it is important to use a gentle formula that won’t irritate the skin.

The best Korean eye cream products are used to decrease the appearance of dark circles, wrinkles, and fine lines around the eye area. This is because they contain ingredients that penetrate the skin deeply, such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, and antioxidants.

I absolutely love Innisfree Orchid eye cream. Since I don’t have dark circles, it’s hard to tell how it works for me. But it does lighten my under-eye area and leaves it nice and smooth.

I’m currently using AHC. It’s relatively light and easy to blend in. It doesn’t crease under the eye area, but is better suited for people with dry under eyes. It’s a popular product in Korea. It’s very lightweight and easy to blend, blending out easily under makeup.

Simple and Effective Skin Care Routine for Oily Acne Prone Skin

This is a long-overdue post but I’m happy to announce that I’ve finally written a post on Korean Skin Care Routine for the Oily, Acne Prone Skin Type! I know, I know — it’s taken me wayyyyy too long to do this, and I apologize for that!

Skin care routine for oily acne prone skin is one of the most difficult things to find. You will probably be faced with a lot of problems when you have acne prone skin problems. We all want to get rid of those pimples and zits that just won’t go away. If you are not careful, the pimples and zits will leave scars on your face that you won’t want to see.

      My Routine

This is a Korean skin care routine for oily acne prone skin. This is what I use for my skin, but you might need to adjust it a little bit, because everyone’s skin is different. I’ve been using this routine for several months now and it’s definitely helped my skin a lot!

Korean beauty products have taken the world by storm, and for a good reason. Korean skin care products are light, hydrating, and don’t clog pores like other western products can. I think that Korean skincare has a lot to offer to all skin types because of their focus on ingredients that are effective, but also gentle. Here’s a breakdown of my routine with my personal favorite skin care products for oily acne prone skin.

      Table of Contents

        Step 1: Korean Oil Cleansing

Oil cleansing is one of the best ways to remove dirt and makeup. It’s especially good for acne because it’s very gentle and it doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils.

If you haven’t tried Korean-style oil cleansing, then you’re missing out. It’s a gentle, effective way to cleanse your skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

        WHAT WORKED FOR ME

Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity
        (5 / 5 Stars | 3,787 Reviews)

I prefer the Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity for oil cleansing. It has a balm-like texture that melts away any makeup and grime from the day. It also has a sweet scent that helps to relax.

        See Product →

I love this method of removing makeup and using a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and excess oil because it’s super-gentle and can be used by people with sensitive skin. Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity is the original oil-based cleanser that has been making waves throughout the K-beauty community since its release in 2013. It is a cult favorite among Korean women for its ability to deep clean and remove all traces of makeup without stripping the face of moisture.

        Step 2: Gentle Foaming Cleanser

If you have oily skin, you should be using a gentle but effective cleanser. Oily skin tends to be more prone to breakouts so it’s important to use a cleanser that will not aggravate the skin. If you have oily, acne prone skin, you must use a gentle foaming cleanser that will not produce excess oil. A foaming cleanser will help remove excess oil, dirt, and makeup without stripping your skin of moisture.

There are many great foaming cleansers that are made specifically for oily acne prone skin.
Ingredients to look for in an acne cleanser include salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and sulfur. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that works as an anti-inflammatory and exfoliant to clear pores of dirt and oil.

        GENTLE CLEANSER FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

ETUDE HOUSE AC Clean Up Daily Cleansing Foam
        (4.5 / 5 Stars | 139 Reviews)

From the entire line of ETUDE HOUSE AC Clean Up products, the brand new AC Clean Up Daily Cleansing Foam was launched to fight acne even better. It also contains green tea extracts and chamomile extracts to soothe stressed out skin.

Step 3: Korean Exfoliator for Oily Acne Prone Skin

Many people think Korean exfoliants are too harsh for their skin. The truth is, Korean exfoliants are designed to be used on all skin types and, once you know how to use them, they work wonders for oily and acne prone skin.

Korean exfoliators are a great way to rejuvenate your skin and to give it a healthy glow. Korean exfoliators are made with fruit acids and they also include ingredients like hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a very popular ingredient in skincare products because it helps to keep moisture in the skin.

        VITAMIN C & HYALURONIC ACID

MOTHER MADE Exfoliating Aqua Peeling Gel
        (4.5 / 5 Stars | 438 Reviews)

My skin is very sensitive and this is the first time I’ve used an exfoliating gel. At first, I was skeptical because of the texture but as soon as I applied it on my face, it felt like water (the consistency is watery!) and it did not sting my face. The gel contains Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid, which makes the skin look bright and healthy.

        See Product →

If your skin is prone to breakouts, then opting for a Korean exfoliator is a great way to start clearing things up. Most Korean exfoliators will contain both AHAs and BHAs which will help to clear your pores as well as help to calm any inflammation.

        Step 4: Korean Toner

If you have oily and sensitive skin, you should use a Korean toner that contains ingredients for acne. In particular, you should look out for ingredients like niacinamide, licorice root extract, and witch hazel. A Korean toner is a great way to prep your skin for the rest of your skin care routine. It helps to even out your skin tone, and prepare your skin for the next steps. It’s also a great way to introduce hydration back into your skin.

I’m a firm believer that a toner is the most important step after cleansing and before moisturising. Toners can be used to help even out your complexion, prep your skin for moisturising, and help with skin issues like redness, dryness, and the appearance of pores. The first thing you want to look for in an acne-fighting toner is a pH level between 4.5 and 5.5. This will ensure that the toner is extremely effective at killing acne bacteria.

        VITAMIN C & HYALURONIC ACID

        COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
        (4.5 / 5 Stars | 438 Reviews)

If you’re looking for something a little different that will revolutionize your skin routine, I’d like to introduce you to the COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner. Out of all the skincare I’ve tried, this toner is one of my favorites. It is a chemical exfoliant that works well on the skin, especially for those with acne-prone skin. It makes my face feel smoother and helps to control my oil production.

        See Product →

A Korean toner is a great way to hydrate your skin because it’s packed with moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, squalane, and glycerin. A lot of Korean toners and essence for acne contain niacinamide. Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that is included in many skin care products because it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It also promotes collagen production, making it a valuable ingredient in anti-aging products.

Step 5: Korean Serum/Vitamin C for oily acne prone skin

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that’s also known for its ability to fade dark spots and even out skin tone. It’s also a great treatment for skin conditions like acne because it promotes healing.

When it comes to vitamin C, L-ascorbic acid is the most effective form. It’s the only form that can penetrate the skin and it’s the only form that can be converted to dehydroascorbic acid, which is a potent antioxidant.

Seoul Ceuticals Day Glow Serum for a few weeks now. I like it because it’s gentle and it smells great. It also helps brighten my skin. I think it’s a good addition to my routine, but it’s not something I feel like I need to add to my daily routine since I get Vitamin C from the other products mentioned earlier.

        Step 6: Korean Eye Cream

The best Korean eye cream for oily acne prone skin should be lightweight and non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores. If you have oily skin, your eyes are more likely to get oily as well. This is because the oil producing glands in your skin are connected. No matter how much you wash your face, if you’re prone to oily skin you’ll probably feel like your eyes get oily throughout the day.

If you have oily skin then an eye cream that contains hyaluronic acid will work wonders for you. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, which means that it draws moisture out of the air and into your skin.

        AFFORDABLE AND EFFECTIVE EYE CREAM

        Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream
        (4.5 / 5 Stars | 438 Reviews)

The Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream is a really light cream which absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves a smooth soft finish. This cream is made with snail slime which is anti-wrinkling, hydrating and whitening. I’ve noticed that the appearance of my crow’s feet has improved significantly since I started using this cream.

        See Product →

Common causes of oily skin around the eyes are:

        • Not washing the eye area properly,
        • Wearing eye makeup and not taking it off properly,
        • Not properly moisturizing the eye area, over-exfoliating the eye area,
        • And being dehydrated.

If you have oily skin, then I suggest using an eye cream that contains hyaluronic acid and is oil-free, like the Complete Skin Solutions Advanced B5 Gel. The gel formula will absorb quickly and won’t leave a greasy residue.

A good eye cream for oily skin is going to hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to keep your entire eye area looking youthful and fresh. If you have oily skin, you should be using a lightweight eye cream that absorbs quickly into the skin.

Step 7: Korean Sheet Mask Routine for oily acne prone skin

The Korean sheet mask is the original sheet mask. It’s also the only sheet mask that’s been around for a long time. In fact, Korean women are pretty much the only women in the world who use sheet masks regularly, and they’ve been using them for decades!

A Korean dermatologist invented the first sheet mask in 1975, and today, South Korea is the world leader in sheet mask sales. A lot of these masks are based on traditional Korean ingredients like green tea, aloe, and rice.

        A CHEAP AND RELAXING TREATMENT

DERMAL 24 Pcs Full Facial Mask Sheet
        (4.5 / 5 Stars | 11,854 Reviews)

I am always on the prowl for good face masks. I have tried a lot of them and I think I have a pretty decent grasp of what I like to see in a face mask. After all, a face mask should be moisturizing, non-irritating, give a noticeable difference in the skin, and easy to use. The DERMAL 24 Face Mask Sheet Combo Pack met and even exceeded my expectations.

The standard ingredients in Korean sheet masks that are great for oily and acne prone skin are niacinamide, adenosine, tea tree oil, aloe vera, snail secretion filtrate, and green tea. Sheet masks are a great way to infuse your skin with nourishing ingredients.

The most important thing to remember when it comes to using a sheet mask is to relax. You want to be relaxed and comfortable so that when you apply the sheet mask, you’re able to relax and get the most benefits from it. It’s important to remember to make this a ritual. For best results, you should use a sheet mask after a long day at work or after you’ve had a long night of drinking. They’re also great to use while you’re watching your favorite show or reading your favorite book.

        Experiment!

The key to overcoming oily acne prone skin is discovering your own routine that works for you. The skin care routine for oily acne-prone skin is certainly not the easiest thing to find, but with these tips, you’ll have a far easier time of it – and your face will thank you!

Again, this is what worked for me. You can follow my exact sequence and products if you want, but it’s best that you experiment with similar products later on once you learn what works best for you. The important thing is that you know the right ingredients you should be looking for with the skin type that you have and make your routine a habit.

Hi! I’m in the U.S, and I also have a similar skintype to you. Looking at your skin type, I can tell that your regimen would be three things: a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen. Though acne is common on your skin type, acne treatment products are often oil-free, gel-based, and salicylic acid based.

This is the skincare game changer for you. Did a skin test at St. Lukes Hospital in Manhattan and found out that some common foods like dairy, flour, eggs, some vegetables, fruits etc are causing me issues acne issues. I noticed how much better my skin looked when I eliminated my triggers. I didn’t have to change anything on my routine — just eliminate the problem.

@HarleyHurley good for you mine is hormonal, it sucks but I learned to accept it and just find ways to take care of it so it doesn’t scar or get worse

Thanks for the recommendation! For years now I stopped using soaps since they dry out my skin. I’m now looking for a new gentle cleanser that doesn’t dry out. This helped a lot

Skin Care Routine for Oily Acne Prone Skin

The best way to treat acne is by treating the root causes of it. By keeping the skin clean, exfoliating regularly and using products that contain ingredients like salicylic acid, acne can be kept under control.

Let’s start with something that can be easily found and bought. A great way to start building a routine is to find a good cleanser with salicylic acid in it.

Acne-Prone? Salicylic Acid is a Friend!

Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. It’s also anti-inflammatory which means it helps reduce redness in the skin.

Niacinamide is a great ingredient to help reduce inflammation and redness in acne-prone skin. It has the ability to penetrate skin cells and reduce the amount of sebum that’s secreted. It also helps to reduce the production of keratin, which can clog pores.

Keratin is the same protein found in hair, nails, horns, hooves, and feathers. Our bodies produce the very thing that can cause our pores to clog. But no worries! You can easily use a daily exfoliator to help remove Keratin from your skin for a smooth texture and less acne.

Choosing a Korean Skincare Toner for Acne

The toner is an important step in your skincare routine that helps to restore pH levels after cleansing. As well as being a great way to cleanse your skin, toner can also be used to treat a range of issues, from acne to sensitive skin.

A Korean skin toner is a solution that improves the texture of your skin, unclogs pores, and evens out skin tone. Some even contain acne-fighting ingredients like tea tree oil.

The first step in finding a toner for acne is to figure out what type of acne you have. Oily skin produces excess oil and can clog your pores, while dry skin doesn’t produce enough oil and can also clog your pores!

Let the Skin Stay Sober. Choose Alcohol-Free!

If you have acne-prone skin, you’ll want to choose a toner that doesn’t contain alcohol or fragrances. These ingredients can be very drying and irritating to acne-prone skin.

Toners are usually water-based and can be found in different strengths. Some ingredients we recommend to look for in your Korean skin care toner are:

          1. Centella Asiatica, also known as Tiger Grass. It is an anti-inflammatory agent that helps reduce redness and heals damaged skin.
          2. Madecassoside, a derivative of Centella Asiatica, is known to be an effective anti-aging ingredient.
          3. Hyaluronic Acid – Hyaluronic acid is a great Korean skincare for acne ingredient that helps clear pores and rehydrate the skin.
          4. Propolis – Propolis is very soothing. It is a natural substance that bees produce from tree bark and sap, which they use to seal cracks within their hive. It’s anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal, making it effective at treating a variety of skin conditions.

In order to get rid of acne effectively, you should use products that contain salicylic acid and tea tree oil. Salicylic acid helps remove dead skin cells and excess oil. Tea tree oil is an anti-fungal that helps reduce inflammation and kill bacteria.

          Dab an Oil-Free SPF Moisturizer

Another must-have for your skin care routine for oily acne prone skin are Moisturizers.

The sun is the number one cause of premature aging in the skin. You can protect your skin by choosing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and wearing it daily. But what if you could get some sun protection without having to remember to apply more sunscreen?

An oil-free SPF moisturizer is another great way to add SPF to your beauty routine. SPF can often leave your skin looking greasy and oily, but a good moisturizer with SPF will absorb into the skin and leave it looking matte.

          Try Korean Essence (or Ampoule)

In Korea, there’s a category of skin care called “essences.” It’s not a serum, it’s not a lotion, it’s not a gel, but it’s also not quite a toner.

Acne essences are a concentrated form of essence that has been created to treat acne. The main ingredient used is azelaic acid which is known to be antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-septic. Acne essences are a great alternative to prescription acne treatments.

          Essences and Amp-what?!

Essences and ampoules (pronounced amp-yoolz) are very different from each other and they have different functions. Acne ampoules contain high concentrations of active ingredients and are great for targeting stubborn acne.

I’d suggest you try an essence first. Ampoules are usually more concentrated, so you might not need to add another product on top of your essence. Acne essences and ampoules are powerful anti-acne products that are applied directly to blemishes and breakouts to help heal them quicker.

A lot of the time, acne is caused by a reaction to something in your skincare routine. You may want to try using a different cleanser, toner, or moisturizer. But because it’s so important to use gentle products on sensitive skin, I recommend looking for an essence or ampoule that contains snail mucin. Snail mucin is a natural skincare ingredient that’s shown to be beneficial for sensitive skin.

Korean Sheet Masks or Hydrogel Masks

When it comes to masks, you’ve got two options: sheet masks and hydrogel masks. Sheet masks are made of cotton soaked in a solution of skin-beneficial ingredients. Hydrogel masks are made of a hydrogel material that contains the same skin-beneficial ingredients as sheet masks.

I think that sheet masks are the perfect way to treat acne, because they’re very easy to use. They’re perfect for people who don’t like to do a lot of work when it comes to their skin care routine.

Should I Go Single or Multi?

The first consideration is whether to choose a single-layer or multi-layer mask. Single-layer masks are great for sensitive skin. Multi-layer masks are great for oily skin. If you’re not sure about which to choose, you can always just try both!

Hydrogel masks are made with a special type of material that is more similar to a second skin than a traditional sheet mask. Hydrogel masks are filled with hyaluronic acid and are super moisturizing, which is why they are ideal for hydrating and plumping the skin.

Sheet masks are perfect for acne-prone skin because they’re unlikely to clog pores and are easy to apply and leave on for 10 to 20 minutes. Just choose a sheet mask that’s targeted for acne treatment and leave it on for at least 10 to 20 minutes to treat breakouts.

Korean Acne Spot Treatment Creams – An Innovative Korean Skincare for Acne

Acne is the bane of my existence. I have oily skin, so I get plenty of zits. I’ve tried everything under the sun to get rid of acne and nothing has worked quite as well as the Korean spot treatments.

Some of the best spot treatments for acne in Korea are Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch, Missha Clear Toner, and Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patches.

          It’s either Hormonal or Bacterial

Acne can be the result of hormones or genetics, or it can be caused by bacteria that gets trapped inside of pores. Now, Korean acne products have made their way into the Western market and are a very popular acne treatment ingredient. These ingredients include salicylic acid (BHA), benzoyl peroxide (BPO), and niacinamide (vitamin B3).

Treating acne with Korean spot treatments is the best way to get rid of acne quickly. Spot treatments like the Cosrx pimple patches are designed to target pimples in hard to reach areas on the face like the nose, chin, and forehead. You can also use spot treatments to target acne on your body as well.

Honey, It’s More than Just What’s On the Surface

To cure acne, you have to do more than just apply products to the surface of the skin. Korean skin care products are often designed to heal the source of the acne, rather than just treating the symptoms. But more than this, you also need to commit to making a few lifestyle changes.

If you’re wondering what the root of your acne is, it’s probably your diet and lifestyle. If you haven’t thought about this before, now is the time to start.

Now that you’re taking care of your skin, it’s time to take care of the root of your acne. If your acne has been caused by stress, it’s time to reduce your stress levels. If your acne is caused by your diet, it’s time to make healthier food choices.

To get rid of your acne, you must treat what’s underneath the skin as well as just putting products on top. Korean skin care products are designed to heal the source of the problem – rather than just treating it with a face mask. But remember: if you want clear skin, you need to give up chocolate and do more exercise.

The Amazing 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine: Everything You Need to Know

It’s no secret that Korean women are known for having beautiful skin. However, this beauty comes with careful planning and a daily (or rather nightly) skincare routine.

If you’re interested in K-beauty, you’ve probably already heard of the 10-Step K-beauty Routine After all, it’s a major part of the Korean skincare industry.

The 10 step Korean skincare routine has been part of Asian beauty for a long time, but it’s picking up steam in the US, and we’re willing to bet that you’re one of the people interested in learning more about it. It utilizes ten steps to achieve the perfect balance of hydration and glow.

This routine is a popular and effective way to keep your face soft, smooth, and youthful-looking. Your skin will thank you for it. All you need is time (about 30 minutes) and a few basic ingredients.

          Table of Contents

            Cleansing

Cleansing is a very important step in Korean Skincare. It is the key to achieving smooth and radiant skin. Cleansing your face is absolutely essential to maintaining good skincare. But what are you supposed to clean it with? The answer is simple: a cleanser! It’s the first step in any skincare routine and it’s an important step to take.

            Cleanser #1: For Oil Cleansing

Cleansing Oil plays a very important role in the Korean routine as it helps to cleanse the skin and remove any residue that your makeup has left behind. The oil is usually applied onto dry skin and massaged in circular motions for about 1-2 minutes before wiping off with a tissue or cotton pad.

After cleansing with oil, wash your face with lukewarm water and do a “water cleanse”.

            Cleanser #2: For Water Cleansing

In Korean skincare, water plays an important role. It’s essential for cleansing your skin and removing excess oil. Also, cleansing with water helps to maintain the pH of your skin. There are many different types of water in Korean skincare, and they all serve different purposes.

The water cleansing method involves using a facial cleanser that consists of only water. Water-only facial cleansing can be used in addition to, or as a replacement for, standard cleansing methods.

Use a mild, non-abrasive cleanser to gently massage the skin for about 30 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, pat dry with a clean towel and proceed to the next step.

            Exfoliation

In most skincare routines, exfoliation is the second step. This is after cleansing in the morning and before your night cream. Exfoliation works to remove dead skin cells that can build up on your face throughout the day. As they get stuck in your pores, they can cause issues like blackheads or whiteheads to occur. Exfoliation can also help to even out the texture of your skin, which can also be an issue for some people.

This is one of my favorite steps in the Korean skincare routine because it makes such a difference to my skin! There are different ways to exfoliate your skin depending on what your skin types need, but I’m going to talk about physical and chemical exfoliation methods that I have used.

There are a number of ways to exfoliate your skin including physical exfoliation with products such as scrubs, chemical exfoliation with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and mechanical exfoliation with microbeads.

            Chemical Exfoliation

AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) are one of the staples in Korean skincare. Both are chemical exfoliants, and are part of the reason Koreans have such healthy, radiant skin. Chemical exfoliants have the ability to scrub away dead skin cells and brighten your complexion, and you can find them in toners, serums, masks, oils, and scrubs.

AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) are commonly used in Korean skincare to treat skin conditions such as acne, dryness, and aging.

Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs) are a type of acid that is commonly used in chemical peels. They are used to smooth the skin’s surface because they can dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells together. The result is smoother, softer skin. The acids in this group are salicylic acid (from willow bark), and glycolic acid (from sugar cane).

            Physical Exfoliation

Physical exfoliants are an excellent way of removing dead skin cells, deeply cleansing and getting rid of blackheads and whiteheads. The two most popular physical exfoliants are microdermabrasion and exfoliating scrubs. Both of these are excellent for removing those dead skin cells.

Facial scrubs are a great way to keep your skin healthy and happy. If your face is a little dry or oily, using a scrub can help remove dead skin cells and produce buildup so you can promote the regeneration of new skin cells.

Both Chemical and Physical exfoliation are both essential to the 10 Step Korean skincare routine. After cleansing your skin, exfoliation will not only rid you of dead skin cells, dirt and oil build-up but also prep your skin for the upcoming serums and moisturizers. This is because exfoliators help remove the top layer of dead skin thereby allowing your other skincare products to penetrate the deeper layers of your skin. You can use an in-shower or in-bath scrub, a chemical peel or a physical scrub.

            Toner

A toner is a formulated product, which is used to tighten pores and balance the pH levels on the skin. It helps prevent acne and blackheads. A toner can be used by anyone who wants to improve their skin, whether you have oily, dry, or normal skin. If you use a Korean skincare regimen, you will need to incorporate a toner into your daily routine.

The aim of a toner is to refine your skin after cleansing it and to balance the pH level of your skin. Korean toners can help with fine lines, dullness, blemishes and blackheads. Korean toners are often alcohol-free, which makes them gentler on your skin.

Korean toners are known for their ability to deeply hydrate and balance the skin. The toners used in Korea provide an excellent base for makeup and prepare the skin to receive a high-quality moisturizer or serum.

While toners can vary in composition and function, most Korean toners consist of three main components: water, humectants, and an acid to adjust pH levels. This type of toner is called a “first treatment” toner.

Some toners also contain exfoliating ingredients to help you remove dead skin cells. A toner can also have active ingredients such as niacinamide or vitamin C that can help reduce fine lines and brighten your skin tone by making it look more radiant.

The toner is usually applied to the skin through a cotton pad. There are other forms of toners: spray toners and water gels and there are several of them that are formulated for different skin types. Make sure to know your skin type first to know which type of toner works best for your skin.

            Essence

The word “essence” is becoming more and more popular in the world of skincare because of the tremendous benefits it provides. “Essence” is one of the most popular product categories in Korean skincare. But what is an essence? What does it do? How does it work? And most importantly: Should you have an essence as part of your routine?

Whether you are using a drugstore brand or a high-end cream, there is one key ingredient that should be included in any skincare routine: Essence. Essence is an important step in your skincare routine because it is made up of amino acids and hyaluronic acid that help to replenish your skin with essential vitamins and minerals.

In Korean skincare, “essence” — or 성분 (seongbun) — is a thin, watery liquid that contains high concentrations of active ingredients to soothe, rejuvenate and nourish your skin. These essences are also designed to work in conjunction with your skin’s natural functions to achieve healthy skin. Essence is the essence of the Korean skincare routine.

Essences come in many forms and different ways of application. Make sure to read the labels and know which ones you need based on your skin type.

            Treatment

You’ve probably heard about the “miracle water” that is Korean beauty serums and ampoules, but what are they and why should you care?

Serums and ampoules have gained a cult following in the world of Korean beauty. A lot of people are confused about what they do, whether they’re really necessary and how you’re supposed to use them.

K-beauty is more popular than ever, and for good reason. There’s a ton of science behind Korean skincare products. A Korean skincare serum is a great addition to your routine, and will help brighten your skin, reduce the severity of your pores, and even out your skin tone.

Serums are lightweight products that contain higher concentrations of active ingredients that usually target a specific skin concern such as wrinkles and fine lines. Ampoules are concentrated formulations that are applied after the serum stage of traditional three-step Korean skincare routine to target specific concerns such as wrinkles, loss of elasticity and dullness.

These treatment products are usually applied before moisturizer or other thicker creams. They are usually worn throughout the day instead of being washed off.

It’s recommended to wear a sunscreen over your skincare layers if you are in direct exposure to sunlight. Ingredients in most serums and essences, such as Vitamin C and Niacinamide, can make the skin feel more sensitive.

            Sheet Masks

I love Korean Sheet masks. I mean, I really love them. I’ve been using them for years and they have been a daily ritual for me. The results are amazing, the price is great and the experience of putting them on is almost as fun as taking them off.

Extreme heat or cold can damage your skin. Don’t let your skin suffer when there are plenty of moisturizing sheet masks to use. They have a ton of essence in them, so they’re a great way to moisturize and give your skin a boost. And they look really cool!

I try to incorporate them into my routine about once a week. There’s something therapeutic about sitting down and letting the mask work its magic, and then wiping off the excess serum before bed. They leave my skin feeling plump, soft, and super hydrated.

            Eye Cream

Eye cream is one of the most important products to include in your nightly skincare routine. Eye skin is different from other skin and is more delicate and thin.

The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face, and it is also the most sensitive. It’s so thin that you can actually see the blood vessels that run through it.

The skin around the eye area is the first place to show signs of aging; crow’s feet, bags, dark circles, and fine lines are all common signs of aging under the eyes. To prevent all of this, it’s important to protect the eye area and keep it hydrated with the right eye cream.

Many of the ingredients in Korean eye cream are derived from the natural resources found in Korea such as ginseng, tea, and various flowers. These ingredients have been used for centuries by the people of Korea to keep their skin healthy and youthful.

            Moisturizers

It’s easy to underestimate how important moisturizing is, but if you look at it from the perspective of skin health, it makes a lot of sense. Without good moisturizing, you will not be able to achieve the result you want even after applying other skincare products on your face because the base of your skin is dry.

Many times people get confused about what type of moisturizer to use in Korean Skincare. This is because there are different types of moisturizing agents. There is also a bit of a difference from Western moisturizers.

In most skincare routines, the focus is to hydrate and moisturize the skin. But how do you know if a moisturizer is right for your face? It’s important to understand how Korean moisturizers differ from their Western counterparts. Korean moisturizers are much lighter in texture and can have a slightly different consistency.

Korean moisturizers are designed to be lightweight and offer more hydration, so they’re perfect for those with oily or acne-prone skin. Korean moisturizers also tend to be water-based, which means that they’re less likely to clog pores and cause breakouts.

The main reason that some people have acne is because their pores are clogged, and this causes an increase in production of sebum. Sebum is the oily substance produced by your body that keeps your hair moist and soft. It also works to keep your skin moisturized so that it doesn’t get too dry. Korean moisturizers are known for their ability to deliver hydration as well as plenty of other benefits. They contain ingredients that not only work to hydrate the skin, but also soothe redness and inflammation while reducing acne breakouts. They can also help even out skin tone and battle hyperpigmentation.

            Sun Protection

To counter the damaging effects of the sun, the K-beauty industry has come up with a comprehensive range of sun protection products. Sunscreen is the most important skincare product next to moisturizer because the protection it provides is superior to everything else. It’s also one of the best anti-aging products you can use.

Koreans are some of the most diligent sunscreen users in the world and it’s no surprise — their climate is notoriously stressful on the skin. In fact, many Korean women regularly use sunscreens at SPF50+.

The UV rays of the sun can cause serious damage to your skin if it’s not protected. Sun exposure over time can cause fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancer. All these issues can be prevented with proper sun protection.

As the weather heats up and we spend more time outdoors, it’s important to increase your protection against harmful UV rays. While sunscreen is a must, many of us don’t realize that our skincare routine can help keep our skin safe from sun damage throughout the year.

If you’re living in a city with hot and humid weather, it’s crucial to keep your skin protected from the sun. Sun exposure can cause dryness, discoloration, and more serious problems like skin cancer.

Making the 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine a Habit

The 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine has been around for a long time and is steeped in tradition. It’s more focused on prevention than cure, unlike its Western counterparts. The best part is it works on any skin type, as there are a lot of products out there that cater to every skin type possible.

It takes a lot of patience, I mean A LOT, taking time to make this a daily habit to be able to see results over time. If you’re new to Kbeauty, I hope this post has helped you get started on your journey! Remember: All you need is just 30 minutes and the right ingredients for your skin type and you’re on your way to beautiful, glowing and healthy skin!

For eye cream, I prefer coconut oil. It’s an antioxidant-rich oil with anti-aging properties. Other vitamin E sources should work too.

Innisfree and The Face Shop are well-known for their entry-level masks. If you can’t find them locally, Naruko is another resource because they have a wide variety of products. I also recommend Leaders & Mediheal, which are a popular mask brand in Korea.

I honestly think the Cosrx snail mucin can be passed off as a moisturizer. It’s already quite moisturizing. Sheet masks are cheaper than individual products, and my most expensive item was just $16.

I love innisfree sheet masks! I use them often and absolutely love their quality, texture, and performance. My favorite mask is the Ginger Honey Toner which keeps my skin hydrated all day long. The sheet masks are $1.80 each.

The “Magic 7” Korean Skincare for Super Oily Skin

Having oily skin can really suck. It’s like, one day you think your skin looks nice and clear, then you wake up the next morning with an inexplicable case of the zits. It’s so unfair! But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Korean skincare products are some of the most talked about in the beauty community, and for good reason. They are usually nature-derived and designed to be effective, safe, and affordable.

Here I’ve gathered the top 7 Korean products that are absolute must-haves if you have oily skin. This is a mix of products that I’ve personally used long term and others that were recommended to me and I’ve just recently tried out.

I have my very own “gold standard” when it comes to oil-regulating products: they must not be greasy, and they should all be fairly cheap! Best of all, I have listed here products that are free from artificial coloring, parabens and animal-derived ingredients.

Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity

I am very excited to share my thoughts on Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity for oily skin. This is a new makeup remover from the Korean brand Banila Co, a solid balm that gently melts away your makeup and leaves your skin feeling soft and clean.

This is a makeup remover that banishes even the most stubborn long-wear makeup, waterproof mascara and sun care products. This unique formula contains a range of ingredients, including coconut oil and olive squalane, to leave the skin soft and supple.

If you’re curious, olive squalene is a natural antioxidant that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. This substance is part of our natural moisturizing factor, which keeps our skin soft and supple. It’s a powerful antioxidant that prevents damage from free radicals and slows the aging process.

Not only does it have the power to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it also significantly improves skin elasticity, hydration, and overall texture. So if you’re looking for a natural skin care solution that has been shown to effectively reverse the signs of aging, then you definitely want to consider incorporating olive squalene into your regimen.

One of the reasons why Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity is so popular is because it’s known to keep your face oil-free for up to 12 hours! Now, I’m not sure how many of you have tried this, but I know for sure that I haven’t tried oil-reducing products that last so long on my face. But since I’ve tried this product, it has become a staple in my skincare routine. I recommend it as a must-have product if you’re looking to dive into Korean skincare for super oily skin.

This cleansing balm is used to remove makeup and clean the skin. It differs from most other makeup removers because it is a balm and not a liquid. It is an all in one cleanser for your face and eyes that removes excess oil, dirt, sunscreen, and makeup.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam Cleanser

Let’s face it – the Face Shop has a lot of really weird products. That’s part of the reason I love them! Their Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam Cleanser is no exception! This foam cleanser is made with rice water, which is supposed to help control oil production for a more even skin tone. The Face Shop has created a cult following for its Rice Water line, so it was only a matter of time before the brand decided to expand that line. Its latest face wash is the Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam Cleanser, which is described as a foaming cleanser that can deep cleanse oily skin without drying it out.

I’ve been testing the Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam Cleanser from The Face Shop for the last two months or so, and I really have to say that I’ve fallen in love with it. I mean, it’s a great cleanser, but that’s not the only reason I love this stuff. It has a lot of other things going for it, too — like the fact that it’s made with rice water, which has some seriously awesome benefits for your skin.

What’s so great about rice water?

There are a lot of good reason why rice water is considered a miracle liquid. It contains vitamins and minerals, nutrients good for the skin, evens out skintone, removes excess sebum, and is especially good for oily skin.

Rice water is the water that’s left over after you boil rice. It’s a great treatment to add to your beauty routine if you have oily skin. It controls oil production in your skin and reduces redness and inflammation and contains a ton of nutrients in it that are great for your skin.

This water contains amino acids and minerals that balance out your skin’s pH levels and help your skin stay soft and smooth, while cleansing away excess sebum. Rice water also helps soothe and calm the skin, which will be a bonus for anyone with sensitive skin or who suffers from blemishes. Those with oily skin usually suffer from breakouts and rice water is the perfect solution to calm that itchy and burning sensation.

This cleanser also contains rice bran powder that absorbs excess sebum to balance the pH level of your skin, that’s why it’s a staple in Korean skincare for super oily skin. Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion

Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion contains 70% Birch Sap that has been fermented for 18 months with a super moisturizing formula that is perfect for those with oily skin types. It deeply moisturizes, while keeping the skin feeling fresh and soft all day long.

Birch Sap is a popular, natural ingredient that can be used to treat oily skin and a variety of other common skin concerns. Also known as birch juice, this is the sweet sap that is produced by the Birch tree. It is made up of a number of vitamins and minerals including vitamin C and manganese, as well as various acidic compounds such as malic acid and gallic acid. Birch sap can be used to treat a number of skincare concerns such as excessive sebum, acne, and dark spots.

This is a lightweight face lotion that absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it hydrated but not shiny. It also features niacinamide along with various anti-aging ingredients that help keep your skin looking youthful and glowing.

While niacinamide has been proven to be an effective skin whitening agent, it is also a powerful antioxidant. The antioxidant properties of niacinamide can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving skin’s elasticity and texture.

Niacinamide is a type of vitamin B3 that has many benefits for skin health. It’s often used in acne treatments because it helps with the appearance of acne scars and helps treat other issues such as inflammation and hyperpigmentation.

Not only does this lotion keep your face moisturized and smooth, but it also has anti-aging properties. You can use this lotion in the morning and before you go to bed to provide extra moisture to your face.

Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion is a lightweight moisturizer that helps combat oily skin. It’s a great choice for the summertime if you’re looking for something that will soothe and cool your skin without weighing it down.

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

Cosrx is a Korean brand that has been gaining a lot of popularity lately. Most of their products also have a pH level between 5.5 and 6, which is lower than the skin’s natural pH level, making them even more gentle on the skin. My skin feels instantly refreshed and soft after using this cleanser.

The pH of your skin is super important when it comes to cleansing and exfoliating. Put simply, chemists use the word ‘pH’ to talk about how acidic or alkaline something is. A pH level of 7 is neutral, anything less than 7 is considered acidic, anything greater than 7 is considered alkaline. We’re always being told that we need to alkalise our bodies. But in reality, it is possible to have an acidic pH – which is actually better for your sensitive skin!

Low ph cleansers are all the rage right now, and for good reason: they help keep skin in its optimal state. This means that it will be less likely to break out, and more likely to be able to fight off future acne.

For people with dry skin, the search for a daily cleanser that keeps it from getting too flaky is an important one. Cleansers that are too harsh can strip the skin of its natural oils and leave it vulnerable to drying out even further. And then there’s cleansing oils that never seem to take off all your makeup.

The Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is a moisturizing gel cleanser that gently removes dirt and makeup without stripping your face of its natural oils. The Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser contains 4% betaine salicylate and 1% natural BHA as its active ingredients to clarify skin. This gel cleanser also contains niacinamide and sodium hyaluronate to help smooth out skin.

This gel cleanser leaves your skin feeling clean, soft, and fresh without stripping your skin of its natural oils — it’s truly a one-step solution for your morning skincare routine. Using the Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is a very refreshing way to start my morning! It has a light gel texture with little beads to exfoliate the skin. I like to use this cleanser in the morning because it’s so light and refreshing. It doesn’t leave any heavy residue or grease on my face like some of my other cleansers do.

              Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon

It’s time to admit that you’re in dire need of a skin overhaul. Exfoliation is the perfect way to reveal brighter, younger-looking skin without spending a fortune on skincare products, but exfoliation can sometimes cause irritation, which is tough for those with oily and sensitive skin.

Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze contains lemon extract and lactic acid. This product is recommended for those who have oily skin that clogs pores easily or for those who want to improve the appearance of their skin. It’s a great exfoliator – gentle enough to use every day but effective and powerful enough to give your skin the results you want.

If you are struggling with acne, dry skin, dull skin, or simply want to improve the texture of your skin, chemical exfoliation is one of the best ways to go about it. Unlike physical exfoliation (using a scrub, loofah, or other such device), chemical exfoliation will slough off the uppermost layers of skin cells and other debris without causing any irritation.

Removing the top layer of dead skin cells is the first step to healthy, plump, glowing skin. But not all exfoliation methods are created equal. Not all exfoliation methods can provide results such as younger looking skin, smoothed texture, and a glow that lasts for hours. There are a bunch of different ways to exfoliate your skin, but there’s one method that’s far superior than all the rest: chemical exfoliation with AHAs.

Alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, are a class of naturally occurring acids that exfoliate the skin and encourage new cell growth. AHAs work by removing the dead skin cells from your face and they leave your skin with a brighter appearance. AHAs also help increase collagen production which is great for your skin as it will help keep it firm and young looking. AHA can be used on face and body for a healthy glow. The acids exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin cells. You’ll notice an instant brightness and a reduction in the size of your pores and fine lines.

Comparing to other peeling gels, Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon has a relatively lower Ph level, which makes it milder and less irritating to the sensitive skin. The Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon is a well-formulated product that does what it says on the package, it effectively exfoliates the skin without any harsh side effects. The product is a citrus derived chemical exfoliator that can be used by those of us who love chemical exfoliation but are not fans of physical exfoliators.

              Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Lotion

If you have oily skin, you might want to know how to choose a moisturizer that will not make your skin feel even more greasy! This is a lightweight, milky lotion that is suitable for all skin types. This lotion balances the oil production in the skin and it makes the skin soft and moist.

This product is one of the best moisturizers for oily skin as it balances your oily skin, so that it feels fresh and clean without feeling heavy and greasy. If you are looking for some products to clean and balance your oily skin, I would definitely recommend Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Lotion.

Green tea seeds are not only an excellent source of antioxidants and vitamin E, but they are also a rich source of essential minerals such as zinc, magnesium, manganese, iron and selenium. Green Tea contains anti-bacterial agents which can help reduce scarring while also fights infection that could lead to acne.

              Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Essence

I think this “essence” is underrated!

If you’re looking for an essence that doesn’t contain alcohol, silicone, artificial fragrances, synthetic dyes or mineral oil, then Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Essence is going to be right up your alley. Innisfree, which is one of my absolute favorite skincare brands, tends to be a little bit more affordable than their competitors, and this seawater essence is no exception.

When I first looked at this product, I was a little puzzled. I’ve never heard of a seawater essence before, and I was just so confused about what to do with it. But, like the loyal Innisfree customer that I am, I decided to give it a try. And after using it for a few weeks now, I’m totes in love.

This is a watery essence that should be applied after the toner. The packaging comes in a light pink plastic bottle with a pump. The pump comes in handy when you need to apply just a few drops of the essence on your face, as it dispenses just enough for your face without wasting too much.

              Key Takeaway

Oily skin sucks but it’s good to know that there are several high quality K-beauty products to choose from for those with oily skin!

                Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream

Let’s start with hydration. The first one I and several of us at Beautiff HQ recommend is Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream. I’ve been using Laneige’s Water Bank Gel Cream for about two years now, and I’ve always found it to be a really great product. It’s a gel cream, like the name suggests, so it’s a light and refreshing moisturiser that sinks into your skin really quickly.

I like to use it before applying makeup. It absorbs really quickly and makes my skin feel plump and hydrated.

It works well for all skin types and is especially good for dehydrated skin and skin with fine lines and wrinkles. The gel cream is a light weight moisturiser that contains a healthy dose of hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin and make it look plump.

I like to use it for hydration before my makeup routine in the morning to give my skin a boost.

                (4.5 of 5 Stars | 123 Reviews)

It’s definitely one of my favorite moisturizers for the winter months. It feels very light on the skin but it’s also very moisturizing. It has a gel-like texture that sinks into the skin quickly and a very pleasant, watery scent!

This is a gel cream that you can use both day and night. It’s hydrating but doesn’t make your skin feel oily or greasy. It comes in a glass jar with a spatula that you use to scoop out the product.

I love how lightweight it is, yet it still packs a punch with hydration. It’s best to apply it over a serum and under a moisturizer.

                Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream

Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream is a new, affordable, and easy-to-find eye cream that’s been getting a lot of attention in the K-Beauty community. It also happens to be a dupe for the much-loved Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Cream.

It’s one of those “don’t let the price fool you” products. It’s absolutely a great product for under $20!

It contains snail mucin, which is packed with proteins, antioxidants, and vitamins that help reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness around the eyes. It’s a smooth, slippery, soothing cream that’s great for the delicate skin around the eyes.

The reason why snail slime is so great for your skin is because it contains all sorts of proteins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is great for hydrating the skin and keeping it firm and elastic. Snail mucin is one of the best skin care ingredients to use on your face because it contains a lot of antioxidants, which will be able to fight the free radicals that are causing damage to your skin and causing fine lines and wrinkles to appear.

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask

My lips are dry and chapped all year round, even in the winter! I hate feeling like my lips are cracking and feel tight all the time, so I was very excited to try out the new Aritaum Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask. This mask is a two step process that you apply at night. First, you apply a thin layer of the lip mask. It has a light, sweet ginger scent and is pretty smooth with a gel-like texture.

What I really like about this product is that it’s not just a lip mask, but can also be used as a lip scrub during the day, and an overnight lip mask at night. You can use it as much as you’d like because it’s not sticky, and leaves your lips feeling smooth and soft.

What Are YOUR Best Korean Skincare Products?

It all still narrows down to your own preference and skin type! Even the best products don’t always agree with everyone, so make sure that you determine your skin type and condition first before choosing the best one that works for you. It takes time and patience, but you need to experiment. The good news is, the best korean skincare products are usually more affordable (compared to the ones we have here in the US), and there’s also plenty of them!

Remember: Your skin may be picky, but there are many products out there that can pamper it. If you’re just starting a Korean Beauty routine, start with gentle products and experiment from there! See what works best for your skin type.

I was surprised with how well the aritaum works. I put it on before bed and wash it off in the morning (I sleep around 8-9 hours) and it stays in good shape. I use it same as a scrub in the morning which works well, my lips stay moisturized and don’t easily bleed unlike other scrubs I used before.

It’s become a ritual of mine to apply lip balm. I’ve tried so many products over the years, but I can never get away from it, so I guess I’m just used to the taste. Aritaum is my go-to brand because it stays on the lips and doesn’t feel sticky after I apply it.

I think Laneige is just very underrated. That was well-written, though I think Laneige needs more attention! It has been the perfect summer cream for me

                Ceejay

@Ceejay Laneige works wonders! But I am not a fan of its fragrance. 🙁 If they can tone it down to a different fragrance in future batches I might go back to it.

                DoryMolly

Laneige is simply the best moisturizer around. a.) It is very light. b.) I love that it simply gets absorbed in my skin, no grease or wet feel whatsoever. c.) It doesn’t dry my skin in like, 6 hours.

                Hipspath_32

Mizon is my go-to eye cream. It’s cheap and very light. I’ve used eye creams before that I just couldn’t wear any time but at night before bed because they feel heavy unlike Mizon… which fits perfectly to my routine

New to K-Beauty? Beginner Korean Skincare 101

Are you new to Korean skincare products? If you are, then you’re probably as overwhelmed as I was when I first started. Too many products to choose from, where to start? What’s the best product for me?

If you’re a newbie to K-Beauty, you may be confused about what products are good for you. The truth is that there are an overwhelming number of Korean skincare products out there. Moreover, their names, ingredients, and packaging look way different than the skincare products that we’re used to seeing in the U.S.

                Table of Contents

I’m here to guide you on your journey to the world of K-beauty!

Korean skincare is a sought after skincare regimen around the world, but is often overlooked by Westerners. It is known for its efficacy and affordability, making it a great alternative to the more expensive brands that are popular in the West. When it comes to Korean skincare products, there are a few things that you should know before you start using them.

Have you heard of the 10-Step Korean Routine?

You don’t just apply Korean beauty products, you have to do it the right way! Read The Amazing 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine: Everything You Need to Know to learn more about the Korean beauty philosophy and how to do it for maximum effect

                  What Makes Korean Skincare Different?

Did you know that the average Korean woman uses 12 products in her skin care routine? From toners to essences, and serums to moisturizer, it’s no wonder that Korean women have some of the most flawless and beautiful skin on the planet!

Korean skincare is the new skincare on the block, and it’s here to stay — it’s not just the products and ingredients that are different, but the entire philosophy surrounding skincare is unique to Korean culture. The Korean Skincare Philosophy is a holistic approach to personal care that’s based on treating the skin, not covering up imperfections. In fact, the 10-step Korean skincare routine is now a part of the daily routine of many people, young and old, all over the world.

The 10-step method is the perfect beginner Korean skincare routine because it’s easy to follow and the ingredients you need are usually very easy to find. The great thing about Korean skincare products is that they are designed around this philosophy, which means they are usually made to work effectively together with other common K-beauty ingredients.

                  Cleanse, Prep, Nourish and Protect

The 10-step Korean Routine is divided into 4 steps: Cleanse, Prep, Nourish and Protect.

Their multi-step skincare routine has been around for ages, but more and more people are becoming interested in Korean beauty products because of their effective ingredients and affordable price tags. Instead of using a million different products, Korean women choose to use less and use them all the time. This is because Korean women understand the importance of layering products in order to get the best results possible.

The Korean skincare philosophy is more than just a trend. It’s a way of life. An ancient method of caring for your skin has now become a luxurious, but affordable, staple in the lives of women all over the world. Although the routine is steeped in tradition, you don’t have to be to reap its benefits.

                  Know Your Skin Type

Before you can get started using K-beauty products, it is very important to know what your skin type is. A lot of people don’t really pay attention to the skin type, and they just buy whatever product is on trend.

                  “Skin Type” is Universal

Although there are still some differences between Asian and American skin types, most skin types are pretty universal. So whether you’re an Asian beauty expert or a total beginner, knowing your skin type is important for choosing the right products.

Dehydrated or dry skin types, for example, are most comfortable using products that contain hyaluronic acid to help fix balance and help with general hydration. Oily and combination skin types are those most required by the experts to use a moisturizer that gives them barrier support and also helps with the brightening effects of retinol products.

Are you dry? Oily? Combination? Acne-prone? Sensitive? Dehydrated? A combination of all of these? Keeping your skin type in mind will help you find the perfect products that will work best for your skin without causing irritation or breakouts.

                  Get to Know the Ingredients

Korean skincare products are usually more accessible, effective, and affordable than their western counterparts. This is because they’re specialized for specific skin types. Whether you want to reduce acne, brighten your complexion, fight aging, or take care of your delicate skin, there’s a Korean skincare product for you.

K-beauty products are known for their high quality because of the amount of research and development that goes into them. Some of the most common ingredients found in Korean skin care products include propolis, niacinamide, green tea, snail mucin, and various extracts. It’s important that you get to know each one of these most common ingredients and how each can affect and contribute to your skin type.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Using Korean Skincare

The Korean Skincare routine can be really confusing, mainly due to the sheer amount of products and steps you have to follow. But if you’re new to the Korean routine and products, then the whole idea of adjusting to this new routine can be daunting! There are some very important things that you need to remember (and avoid) to keep your skin glowing and fresh, as you intend it to be.

Not Applying the Right Products For Your Skin

I can’t stress this enough: your skin type matters. So make sure that you do a quick self-check to determine your skin type before buying any product.

Using Routine Steps the Wrong Way

Koreans understand the importance of layering. You don’t just layer ingredients on top of each other, you have to follow the sequence. Read the label! Most products have a “How to Use” label on the box, so take your time to read before applying. For example, there are some products that need to be applied first before applying heavier creams. It’s important that you know the right sequence.

                  Forget Proper Moisturization

Some products contain acids that strip away your natural skin oils! Make sure to add proper moisturization to your routine to avoid dry skin and acne.

                  Over-Washing

You may have been told throughout your life that washing your face is a great way to keep it clean. And while this is true, it’s important to note that having a good balance between washing and not washing is also equally important. You don’t want to completely get rid of your natural skin oils. It’s also important that your skin stays pH-balanced.

Skin pH plays an important role. Your skin’s pH level is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of your skin. The pH of your skin also determines the effectiveness of products you use on it. The skin needs to be kept at a pH level of 5.5 in order to keep your skin healthy and moisturized, which is why it’s so important that you keep your skin balanced.

Under-Applying Sunscreen or Using the Wrong Sunscreen

This is an important part of personal skin care and health, as it helps prevent the effects of the sun on your face. However, not all sunscreens are created equally. In fact, some of them might be doing more harm than good to your skin. That’s why it’s important to apply sunscreen that is right for your skin type and protects you without causing any negative reactions or damaging your skin.

If you have fair, dry skin, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Look for zinc oxide first in the ingredients list. This ingredient is considered the most effective sun-protection ingredient because it helps block both UVA and UVB rays.

                  Not Using the Right Exfoliant

Are you a fan of exfoliation? I know that I am! Keeping your skin exfoliated, smooth, and clean is a vital part of your daily routine; exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells that can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. It’s also important for your skin’s natural cell regeneration process.

If you don’t exfoliate, your skin won’t be able to get rid of the old and dead cells that make your skin look dull. These dead cells also prevent your skin from absorbing moisture, which can cause it to stretch out and look wrinkled.

The right facial exfoliant does so much more than just cleanse. For many common skin problems, a good exfoliating routine can actually help to prevent it from re-occurring. While exfoliation is very important in skin care, it is extremely important to use the right kind of exfoliant for your skin type. When you use an exfoliant that is too harsh or too rough on your skin, it can be damaging to your skin.

The Lack Of Patience and Not Sticking to it Long Term

It’s no secret that I have a tendency to be impatient. Particularly when it comes to skincare, it can be hard to see results as quickly as I’d like them to come in. However, I’ve accepted that my skin will not transform overnight, and have made peace with the process. After all, it is a process, and it takes time.

Having the best skincare routine in the world doesn’t matter a jot if you’re not patient enough to consistently stick to it. And it’s not just about having the best products and knowing what your skin type is – the time and effort you dedicate to taking care of your skin also plays a huge role in how good your skin will look.

Not Considering Your Age And Skin Concerns

No matter your age, we all want to look and feel our best. If you’re trying out Korean skincare for the first time, it’s important to consider your age and skin concerns. You might be excited to try out all of the products, but if your skin is currently having issues, it might not be the best time to start.

When you’re trying out your first Korean skincare routine, your age becomes an important factor. Skin changes as you age, and so does the way you treat it. Ask your dermatologist for the best way to care for your skin depending on your age and current skin condition.

Unsure About What You Are Looking For In A Product

It’s easy to know your current skin type and what challenges you’re currently facing. Are you looking to moisturize dry-looking skin or treat oily skin? Don’t just go shopping for skincare products, know exactly what you need and your current skincare goals.

Skin Care Routine Order Morning and Night

Eye creams come in different types and formulations depending on the time of day they’re used. Some products are designed for daytime use, others are made to be used in the evening or at night.

You need different ingredients at night than you do during the day. Eye creams, moisturizers and even toners come in different formulations for daytime and nighttime use. There are products that work better for daytime, and others for nighttime use.

You might find that there are steps that are recommended to be done a few times a week. The use of chemical exfoliants like AHA and BHA are recommended to be used once to twice per week.

Decide when you want these treatments applied. I personally like applying acids and essences at night as my face rests and my skin takes time to absorb the ingredients. Some ingredients are also not recommended when you’re frequently in the sun, so having a day and night alternative for each product is definitely a good idea.

                  Have Fun!

When faced with the Western world’s typical skincare products, the Korean skincare philosophy is a stark contrast. With a focus on prevention rather than cure, Korean skincare products are designed to provide users with all the tools they need to achieve and maintain their skin’s health.

Get ready to experience a new level of soft and smooth skin with your first Korean skincare routine! If you’re new to the world of K-Beauty but want to give yourself the best skin possible, it’s important to know which products are the right ones for your skin. And as a beginner, you’ll want to know which products are the most gentle on your skin.

For beginners of all skin types, we recommend trying out a skincare line from a single brand. Some of the products in the brand may not work for you or you could find better from another brand, and this is where you start experimenting with your mix and match. For starters, we recommend COSRX Favorites Bestsellers for your first “test kit”:

There are general rules to follow, but don’t be afraid to experiment! You might find something that works well for you even if it does not follow the conventional rules. Just remember to start with gentle products, do your research on the common ingredients and find out what you need based on your skin type… And oh, don’t forget: Have fun!

Have you already started with your K-beauty journey? What were the challenges you faced? We’d love to hear your thoughts! 🙂

the korean routine 10-step is really the best I’ve encountered and really worked best for me. this article makes it sound like there’s too much to do, but most of the k products are similar and are designed to work and blend well with other korean products. my k routine has 7 products used daily and 3 used once or twice a week

                  Sedonie F

Always loved to try their products but quite hesitant because I don’t have “asian” skin but glad to know that it can work for any skin type

I know a lot of Koreans who really have nice skin, no matter the color/complexion (pale or a bit darker asian). I am reaaaally jealous of the way their skin just stays plump and healthy-looking. I am 28 and my skin doesn’t look like it’s been well taken care of. It’s like koreans have flawless skin
